Production Blog - Gathering Props and Training Actors

Hey guys, for this blog I'll be talking about the production part of my final task. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to film this week as I had planned. Unexpected events came up with my family and I was unable to film. Although I wasn't able to film I took the week to finalize shots and scenes. I also practiced lines with my actors so they would know how I want to portray the characters. When creating these characters I already had my actors in mind so I slightly based the characters of their personalities. There isn't much dialogue in my film so going through lines was easy. I wasn't able to have one of the two other actors here so I could only practice with my brother who plays the character Leo. We went through the actions of the character following the storyboard so that he could remember and it'll make it easier when it came to the actual date of filming. While I did prepare my actors the best I could over the week I also prepared myself by practicing camera movements and angles. Many scenes in my film can benefit from the use of a tripod, but I don't have access to one, so I decided to practice the movements that I would be doing when filming. Since I am one of the actors for the film I also needed to train my brother on certain shots that I would need him to take when I'm in the scene. I didn't focus on that this week and will most likely do it during the weekday afterschool. Luckily, I have two cameras with me so practicing with him will be much easier. Overall, this week was not an entire failure. I was able to get work done that will help benefit the on the actual shooting day. This weekend also allowed me to think about props and costumes to use. I gathered all the props used for the character The Man and those used for David. This includes the fedora which plays a vital role in the film, the jewelry that I will wear, as well as the suit. I talked with my actor Benjamin who plays David to get exercise clothes and to prepare himself for the jogging scene which may need to be shot multiple times. This covers most of what I did this weekend, hopefully I'll be able to begin shooting this weekend or sooner.

The picture represents what I was doing with my actors, walking them through their actions.
