Editing Blog For my Music Video
Hey guys, for this video I'll be focusing on my editing process for the music video. This'll be split into two blogs since I wasn't able to finish editing the first time. I'm using a friends computer to edit my videos because of the software they have, so I'll have to borrow it in order for me to finish. This time around it didn't take so long to edit the video. It was more a rough draft to see what else I needed to be re-filmed or some new shots I wanted to add. I went through the normal process of importing the videos onto the computer, then into software, and then dropping them on the timeline. While editing I realized that the car scene I had was blurry and I hadn't noticed that before. Which makes sense because I was filming at one in the morning. The other problem with this scene is that it was when the therapist suggests for the couple to go on a house date. Since it's just a shot of the car dashboard on the phone with the therapist and there's no audible dialogue, I'll have to add captions. When I tried to make them it didn't come out looking good so I decided to leave it to the next time I edit the video. The next shot I realized was blurry and probably not needed was, a pan into the title of the music video. My sister thought it would be a good idea to add this scene but the cinematographer for this scene wasn't able to pull off the shot. I added this into the video anyway to reach the one minute time, but I think I'll either recreate it or replace it with another scene. I believe that the rough draft does a good job to show the story enough where the final touches, the music and the color grading, will highlight it. I'm hoping that the edition of the music will help the video make sense and show what's going on. The color grading will be used to add the aesthetic to the video and make it fit with the conventions of a pop video. I'm not planning on adding any other shots, because of the time restraints I have on the video and if I did it would ruin the whole story. If I do add or change any other scenes, it'll be to change the scene where the camera pans into the title. That's been my editing process so far, I'll see you soon for the rest.
