Finalizing costumes and Dealing with Equipment Issues
Hey guys, for this blog I'll be telling you about some issues I ran into while preparing to shoot for the weekend. I also wanted to address the fact that I have finalized costumes for the characters. Something I missed when planning for the film was bringing the characters to life. Of course I mean this figuratively, but I say this to emphasis the importance that these costumes have on my film. Since I play The Man and the character plays a big role in setting the mood for the film I wanted to make everything perfect. The costumes for the other characters were easier to design and it didn't take much to bring these characters to life when considering their outfits. There only scenes are indoors and one of them in athletic clothes. The Man is seen getting ready in the opening film of the scene, until now I wasn't sure how to dress him, but thanks to the fedora that I wanted to add I decided to wear a suit. For Leo and David, they will wear normal sleeping clothes and David will switch into athletic clothing when he goes for a run. Moving into the more serious matters, dealing with the equipment. As I stated before I practiced the movements with my camera in order to compensate for the lack of equipment I have on filming day. I decided to do an actual shoot with no one in frame to see how it would look and my camera gave me an error message. It would automatically stop recording after a minute and a couple seconds. Of course I tried this with my other camera and ran into the same problem. After researching the issue, I learned that it was due to my SD card which was not capable of holding videos over a minute, because it would reduce the quality. Fortunately, none of my scenes are long shots that take over a minute but it will cause problems in the post-production phase. Having to go through multiple videos for a scene rather than a few longer videos will be something I have to adjust to. One slight problem that I realized may rise is the lack of microphones. While my camera does have it's own built-in microphone I don't believe it will work best for the audio. To fix this I decided to use a second source for my audio, a phone, it will be hidden behind props in the scene that are near the characters during dialogue. This way I have two sources of audio in case one isn't good. That about covers it all so far. By the next blog I'll be telling you the how the first day of filming went.
