Editing For My Final Task

Hey guys, so for this blog I'll be talking about my experiences editing and everything that happened. I'll have a follow up that goes more into depth about my editing. So we last left off where I had a plan to use my friends computer to edit. Fortunately for me I was able to do just that. In less than a hour I had my videos imported and began editing. I didn't have much time in class to edit, but my plan wasn't to edit the whole video in one sitting. I began by reviewing the footage and writing down the videos that I wanted to use in the final cut. I put them down chronologically and it made it easier when importing the video into the software. I placed the videos on the timeline and began to cut. I  made small cuts that took off most of the run time I had while filming. After placing them chronologically on t he timeline the bell was about to ring. I wouldn't have access to the software outside her computer so I exported the video I had. I decided that this would take less space and skip the process of importing videos. Now I had one big video which was about five minutes long. The plan at home was to have my dad, who has experience with computers try and fix an old laptop that could handle a software. Sadly, we weren't able to work and ran into a lot of problems. At first our operating system that we installed didn't have the credentials needed. This would lead to problems where certain codes in a verified operating system would be downloaded and able to run the editing software I wanted. My brother recommended another software, one that was free and one he was familiar with, but yet again we were struck with the same error code. I decided that I needed to get this movie done as fast as I could and chose to work with the online editing site I was told about. Before I had the laptop my father fixed up OpenShot, the editing site, wouldn't work on school computers. Luckily for me I now had access to this laptop and I was able to use it. As I said earlier I'll go more into depth on the editing process and OpenShot in the following blog.

Here is a picture of OpenShot and the project where I worked on the shot-reverse shot scene.
