Finalizing Editing for my Final Task Pt.2

Hey guys, continuing where I last left off. My final steps were to add the music and any special effects I would end up needing. As I was editing I realized that the music could change the story of the movie entirely. The song I chose to play in the beginning was more melancholy than I had hoped, but instead of switching it around I decided to try and follow that story, which I plan to explain in my final blog. I added the music in the beginning and end of the movie and fixed up the audio to make sure background noise was heard. Doing so was harder than I anticipated. While OpenShot is a good editing software, it is not the best for sound and it's really where I had struggled when making sure it matched the scenes and was able to be heard. I managed to figure it out, by playing frame by frame and matching it with the audio I got it done. There probably could've been a better way of doing it, but this worked the best for me. At this point in time I was in my seventh hour class finishing up just as the bell rang. It was perfect as I was basically done with it. During my eighth hour I exported the video to view it and see any problems that aren't really seen in the software. I found that scenes weren't coherent and some titles were not legible because they blended into the background. When I got home, I went straight to editing and fixed the titles first. I had typos in them as well so I had to re-edit them. After fixing the scenes so they made a clear story, I added effects. The only effect I was really interested in was the changing from black and white to color. While  playing around with the effects to see if I can do anything I saw that I could add bars. I added them and learned how to edit effects which came in handy later. The probably with the bars is they took too much space and the titles were stuck in between them. I just shortened the size and the problem was solved. Then came the hard part of changing the color. I messed around with color grading but it would give me a blue-green tint. I thought it didn't work for black and white 'til I realized I can go into the negatives. By doing that I was able to change the value depending on the scene to match the black and white I wanted. That was pretty much all there was to it. I'll see you guys in the next blog.
