And so it begins

Hey guys for this blog I'll be talking about the first day of editing on the film. Our final day of filming was on 27th, but I had started editing two days before on the 25th. I could only do the first two minutes of the film and it was mainly a rough draft. We didn't have all the shots of the film. We still needed to reshoot one scene and I was editing at school during class because I didn't have time outside of class. I started by reviewing all of the footage we had and keeping the ones that I can use. I ended up getting rid of over 15 videos that weren't usable at all and keep the rest leaving about 30. The first step after organizing was to put the scenes in order and follow through from there. I had already thought of doing a cross-cut for the first scene between Jackie and Queenie. That's why I had done the multiple different angles since we started filming. I cut the scenes into each part when they would go quiet and the next person would start talking. Luckily for me they had done many of the same gestures and kept the scenes very close to each other which made it easier on me. Cutting and putting the scenes together was pretty easy. With a little of editing on the audio and cutting and placing I was done with the opening scene in about 10-15 minutes. The next scene also had a cross-cut but nothing like the prior. For this one I simply used one angle while Jackie was standing and when she looked at the letter I changed into another angle. Our biggest issue for this was audio. There was too much background noise and Danniella cursed in the shot. We kept the background noise and just quieted it down as much as we could but omitted the cursing. As soon as I finished that I reviewed it with Anya and Danniella and by the time we finished discussing what to change it was time to go. That's all for this blog, see you in the next one where I focus on the second day of editing.
