Filming Blog For My Music Video

Image
Hey guys, for this blog I'm going to walk you through my filming for the music video. To be honest, it was pretty fast and took less than an hour. Each shot was maybe done twice to make sure I got everything I needed and to use the other in case one of them wasn't the best. I did most shots in order, which made it easier to film, except the car scene which was done last. I wasn't able to film for the entire thanksgiving break until Friday after thanksgiving. The entire video was done at midnight which made my sister and her boyfriend a little uneasy but they came around in the end. Filming with them was different than filming with other people. To put it simply, they did not want to be there. Like I said before they did come around in the end, after I told them how to do what I wanted and added some ideas they wanted to see in the video. Throughout the filming I wanted to make sure that the scenes had told a story, although they did tell some sort of story, I feel like I n...

Planning storyboard for my Music Video

Image
Hey guys, I should warn you just like my last storyboard it wasn't the best if that isn't evident by the picture your going to look at. So for this blog like my last story blog I'll try to explain my view for the music video the best I can. The first box is the couple sitting down at a therapists office, (my living room) talking to the therapist in anger over lapping each others sentences. The first slide is to show the aggression between the couple and where they might be. The next box is the therapist sitting on his couch telling the couple to calm down and tell their story one by one. This'll help signify where the characters are and what's going on. These two shots are probably the most important because it'll set the idea of the couple going through problems and without that I won't have the music video I want. The next shot is about an hour in the future where the couple is leaving the therapist's office and it pans into the next box where the ther...

Planning for my music video

Image
Hey guys, so this blog is focusing on my plan for the music video. Like the last one this'll be split into different sections going into some of the essentials needed before filming. Before that of course I just want to clarify that I'm still using the song by Maluma, ADMV.  The plan for this film is to show a couple that's going through some problems and decided to go to couple's therapy. After a session the therapist recommends the couple to go on a home-date and spend some one on one time with each other. They end up dancing to the song in the background and the video finishes when they get close and motion for a kiss. Schedule: The schedule will be to film and edit between now and December. The shots I'm planning for won't take that long and will all take place in the same location. I'm not sure if I'll need to refilm so that's why I'm planning on finishing early. Props & Costumes: For this project I'm not planning on using many...

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
Hey guys, so for this blog I'm going to be talking about what I found for conventions in this songs genre. To begin with the songs genre is pop. They focus on bright colors and usually have the artist be the main character in the video. Most of the time their really isn't a story but luckily this songs music video does and I plan on telling a similar one. The idea for pop music videos is to sell the song and the artist to get the most amount of attention and sales through performance of the artist. For this song the creators didn't do that. Instead they told a sad story with a beautiful message, they did however use the artist with make up to make him and the actress who played his wife, appear old. They didn't focus on using the artist's body or face to sell the song and music video, they simply used the song and the message it conveyed. Unlike many other pop music videos which sometimes sexualize the artist to appeal to their audience. They also didn't have o...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
Hey guys, so yesterday we started a new project, this time it's focused on a one minute music video. As you may know from my past blogs I'm not the best when the project is first presented but luckily while listening to the radio today I found the perfect song I wanted to use. It's ADMV by Maluma, a Columbian singer. This song is in Spanish so I'll provide a transcript of it in English.  The song is about a relationship with a person and the connection with that person that they have, which is the love of their life. I think that this song is going to be a great story to tell. When listening to the song I had many ideas about how I wanted to show the song. I had some ideas but we won't go too much into them. The main idea is to show a couple either on an anniversary or on a date and they end up dancing. So for that I'll need two people. I'm not planning on working with anyone on my project from school, but have my sister and her boyfriend be the actors for ...

Name: Angel Noriega_____ Creative Critical Reflection 1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   My product doesn’t follow the normal rules of a commercial, which is to show off a product and convince the audience to buy it. While it does appeal to certain social groups like athletes and people who are into exercising, it doesn’t try to show off a product entirely. The brand I decided to use doesn’t rely on convincing people for one specific product but instead they focus more on conveying their message: just do it. Because of this my product doesn’t follow the conventions of a commercial and instead I also try to convey their message. Although it wasn’t a goal at first the fact I did use to different people with two different body types helps to convey that message even more and at the same time it does help the product that was slightly focused on. The idea of having mu...

My Commercial

Image
Hey guys, well this is it, the end of the road for now. This project has reached the final stretch and to finish it off like a good series does I'll do a recap on the journey. At first I had no idea what I wanted to do for this project. I was scared because I didn't think I could get anyone to come film during this pandemic, but luckily I did. Planning for the film after I had a general idea was pretty easy, I just needed to show two people trying their best to improve and "just do it." While at first it was them improving throughout the film I realized that creating that idea was going to have to take more time than I head with a 30 second limit. When it came down to filming I had to change the story of the film and even though it was a pretty big change I think this way was better. Showing the two athletes trying their best and training themselves definitely showed what a Nike commercial is. During the editing process it was all about going through with the story i...

Editing Blog

Image
Hey guys, so this'll be the last blog before the big reveal of the project. Alright so basically, this part of the project was rather easy, at least for me. I was using Adobe Premier Pro which is a software I'm familiar with so it went pretty smooth. At first I wanted to change the whole story of the film by making it flip back and forth but then realized it might be annoying. Plus, the shots I had filmed weren't going to work with that. I did learn something from the last project I did and made sure that all my shots were organized, which like before made everything easier and faster. After putting all the shots into the timeline I looked through it all to make sure the story played out correctly. A little but of cutting, moving, and patience with the slow computer the story was showed. Next was reviewing the film, I realized that there will be a sudden switch from two shots to one and I ended up keeping it. You'll understand when you watch it. I didn't really run...

Filming Blog

Image
Hey guys, welcome back to my blog. For this one we'll be covering the filming part of my project. I can say to start that the project definitely took a turn. For one it's not following the same story. At first it was supposed to be a football player and a swimmer, but we had to change because our swimmer couldn't make it. Luckily we had a backup as a track runner so I was still able to show two different people. There was only one other problem which was the weather and time but we managed to work with it but, the weather did seem to work with the film. Other than that everything went pretty smooth. We filmed the shots rather fast and not as bad as I thought. We did have to repeat a couple because of the lighting but we used the phones flashlight because it was our only source of white light and had one of our talents hold them up since they weren't in that scene. Filming inside was the easy part, but filming outside in the dusk while it's almost about to rain did c...
